One of the challenges of solar lighting is showing buyers what it will look like when lit at night. To overcome this, Smart
Smart Solar's 'Try Me' Star Light String retail box
Solar has developed patented ‘Try Me’ packaging across many of its ranges, especially light strings. The retail boxes have a button that consumers can press and hold to see the lights working through an acrylic panel whilst some products, like the Animal Stake Lights, have a Try Me on the POS tray rather than each individual box. Smart Solar’s original Flutterby’s are supplied in POS units with a special battery operated Try Me demo unit, enabling garden centres to place them at till points where customers can press the button to see them working.
Jonathan Stobart, Smart Solar’s Managing Director commented, “We have invested heavily in product display and packaging to help garden centres sell our products more easily and as a result we have seen sales increased markedly. Most of our products are now supplied in merchandising displays which are especially effective to encourage impulse buys at till points.”
Open point of sale displays mean that people can see the product before buying
Sales can be facilitated if customers can see the actual product and Smart Solar’s Bright Eye animals are all supplied unboxed in open POS displays with swing tags or labels so that customers can see the different sizes, colours and styles to make their purchasing decision easier. Additionally, the newly launched collection of 9 Silhouette Metal Animals has a special island wooden display unit that shows off the products and creates a real wow factor in store.
