We had a space earlier this month at the Journee Des Collections, just outside Paris. Several striking differences between trade shows in the UK, or anywhere else for that matter.
The show is essentially outside, where all exhibitors have a tented space with an outside grass space in front. The location this year is in a large equestrian centre, but as it has rained so much, one has the unenviable task of setting up dodging large puddles with straw placed everywhere to soak up the mud. And not always successfully, should have brought the wellies…
The other notable difference however is the French attitude to lunch. While catering at most trade shows is uninspiring and expensive, here there is an expansive and delicious spread laid on. And it’s free for both exhibitors and visitors.
